The contrast stitch denim skirt

Today’s OOTD is a super simple one, featuring this cool contrast stitch denim mini skirt from ASOS. I’ve been digging contrast stitch denim for a while now as I love that it adds interest to an otherwise basic AF piece.

I originally intended to shoot this as a double contrast stitch denim look as I do love me some double denim but we picked literally the hottest part of the day to take these photos… I was beyond bloody boiling and had to ditch the jacket gah. Such a shame because although the jacket is a little faded compared to the skirt, I love how these look worn together as a co-ord.

I try not to wear too much head-to-toe black as, if I’m honest, I feel like it’s a lazy choice. I do get that it’s super easy to look put together, especially when you’re in a rush, but I find it a little understated for my taste, I much prefer to make more of a statement. I am kind of biased though as I’m more of a maximalist than a minimalist, I really love prints and colour and mixing them up to create bolder looks. I am however, a huge huge fan of wearing other colours head-to-toe at the moment which you’ll definitely be seeing over the next few weeks. That being said though, I also like to mix it up and, as I don’t tend to go for head-to-toe black all that often, the simplicity of it can make a nice change.

In other news, I’m sporting a new trim courtesy of the amazing Callum over at Standen May. It’s the same-but-different, keeping the same overall style and just getting rid of the dead ends. A tidy up was long overdue and I’m loving how much healthier my hair looks! I definitely recommend checking out Standen May if you’re in the Norwich/Norfolk area, they have the most beautiful salon and the team there are all so so good at what they do.

Round Ray-Bans |

Anyway, back on topic… I paired this simple look with some of my workhorse accessories, my trusty round Ray-Bans and my suede sock boots. I have tons and tons of other options (far too many as I’m constantly being told lol) but these two are just so failsafe. They go with absolutely everything so I inevitably find myself reaching for them all the time.

As a side note, how pretty does the sky look in that reflection?!
